



Omar Collier

Omar "Dwayne" Collier was born May 23, 1970 to his mother, Mary Bell Collier, and father, James Henry Dodson in Chicago, Illinois. His early education began at St. Martins Catholic School and Dewey Elementary. In 1989, he graduated from Tilden High School before attending and earning an associate's degree from Robert Morris College. Omar was adamant about his education. At the time of his passing, he was attending school for real estate. Shortly after high school, he began working for the Northern Trust Bank for nearly a decade. From there, he worked for telecommunications companies Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular. In 2009, Omar moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and took a position in medical billing. Prior to his passing, he worked for Hilton Grand Vacations. Omar was a God-fearing man who believed deeply in the power of prayer. At the age of seven, he dedicated his life to Christ after attending St. Paul Church of God in Christ with his mother and grandmother, Arlena Collier. It was this strong faith that he turned to in May of 2019 when he began his battle with a difficult illness.
Omar Collier died September 1, 2019. Omar was an amazing person who always looked for opportunities to help others. He cared deeply for his family, especially his mother. He had a passion for basketball, martial arts movies and music. At his core, he was a kindhearted man that encouraged others through the example he set with his own life.
