Donald Cornelius Jones, affectionately known as "Bird," was born

December 19, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Elder Dennis

Jerome Jones and Joan Lee. He entered eternal rest on August 12,

2026, at the age of 61, following a brief illness.

Donald was born and raised in a Christian home and was a deeply

spiritual man. Later in life, he embraced Buddhism, becoming a

devoted follower for more than forty years and a respected spiritual

leader within the Buddhist community.

He attended Percy L. Julian High School on Chicago's South Side. He

believed in hard work and held various positions throughout his life,

including working as a mail carrier cyclist, delivering mail to

businesses throughout Chicago.

Donald's true passion was dance. Known to many as "The Bird," he

brought joy, energy, and unforgettable style to every dance floor. His

talent and love for stepping earned him induction into both the

Chicago Steppers Hall of Fame and the Las Vegas Steppers Hall of

Fame after relocating to Las Vegas.

Donald also had a true sense of style. He loved to dress well and was often seen in custom-made clothing, topped with one of his many signature hats from his beloved collection. Beyond his style and presence, family meant everything to him. He valued staying connected, talking with his loved ones, and making sure those closest to him felt his love. Donald had a joyful spirit filled with compassion and love for people. He cherished his family, friends, and loved ones; enjoyed laughter; and truly valued the relationships he built throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on in all who were blessed to know him. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Elder Dennis Jones; his mother, Joan Lee; his paternal grandparents, Theodore and Orealya Jones; and his maternal grandparents, Ed Ray and Ethel Mae Powell and his son, Kyle Q. Dotson I. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his significant other, Andrea Naylor of Las Vegas, Nevada; his son, Roberto D. Dotson of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his stepmother, Shirley Jones of Dothan, Alabama. He is also survived by his siblings: Reginald "Reggie" Clopton of Chicago, Illinois; Dennis Maurice Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada; Andrea Jones Brown (Robert) of Montgomery, Alabama; and Chrystal Jones of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren Kaidance Dotson, Kyle Q. Dotson II, Kyler Dotson, Kylee Dotson, Amir Dotson, and Robin Dotson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones
