Luke Jones, Sr. was second child born to Nathaniel and Laura Jones on June 4, 1939 in Tunica, Mississippi.
Luke confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church in Mississippi.
Luke attended public schools in Tunica and graduated from Tunica High School. He decided to enter the trucking profession as a truck driver. He thoroughly enjoyed being on the road and traveled to most of the states.
He met and married Mary Louise Williams. Five children were born to this union. Seeking a better life, he moved his family to Memphis and later to Chicago. In the mid 1980's. Luke moved to Los Angeles. He met and married Amanda Boykins. A loving, blended family was formed as he raised Amanda's children as his own.
The family moved to Las Vegas. Luke worked as a casino porter and detailed cars. He was the handyman of handymen, fixing anything that was put in front of him. But the road called, and he returned to trucking. He retired from this profession in 1995.
Luke loved his family and friends and enjoyed the times they spent together. His passion was fishing and hunting. If someone would ask about going to one of these activities, a sparkle would appear in his eyes, he would have a huge smile and of course the answer was a resounding YES! He also enjoyed cooking, shooting pool and dancing. He loved to have a good time.
