Elis Boyd Chiles was born on June 1st, 1931 in Eufaula Oklahoma to Harmon Pete Chiles Jr. and Sadie Mae Coit. He preceded in death by his father, mother, wife Kathryn Chiles, three brothers, Rachel C. Chiles and two sisters, Joyce Marie Splond and Ruby L. Chiles. Elis moved Las Vegas in 1946, where he attended Vegas High School. He was a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1954. After receiving an honorable discharge, he came home to marry his loving wife Kathryn Chiles.

Elis worked in the Stardust Hotel for 10 years. He then went to work as a cement mason for 40 years. He was highly valued by friends, family and co-workers. He loved the game of basketball, baseball and dominoes. He worked very hard to provide for his family. Elis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.
