Zena Yvonne Thomas was born on December 07,1959 in Las Vegas Nevada. From the union of Mae and Willie Strong, Zena became the second of six children. As a young girl, Zena was shy and a very sweet girl, who found great joy in reading, baking, and sewing. During her youth, Zena along with her parents and siblings, traveled and live in Del Rio Texas and Okinawa, Japan. Zena started school in Las Vegas and later moved to Del Rio, Texas, Where she studied Cosmetology. Prior to her to her senior year ending the Strong family relocated back to Las Vegas, Nv. Upon graduating from Vo-Tech High School in 1978, She accepted employment through the Economic Opportunity Board (EOB), where she worked as a secretary. Zena Has a special group of church friends that would frequently travel around Las Vegas and California to attend midnight musicals. She often shared how much fun and adventurous those times were.
Years later, Zena became employed by Nevada Power (NV Energy). in 1985, While Employed at Nevada Power, she met Wornzie L. Thomas (affectionately known as Thomas). They married on Valentines Day in 1990. IN 1995, Thomas and Zena decided to move their family to his home town in Selma, Alabama. While in Selma, Zena worked at Pioneer Electric and later she and her family joined Gospel Tabernacle church of God and Christ under the leadership of Pastor John E. Grayson. There she served as a Sunday School teacher, Choir President, and a Church Sectary, because of her beautiful spirit. Zena made many close friends that turned into family who could all attest to her low temperance and her sweet, beautiful spirit. Zena was the epitome of various a women.
In 2003, Zena and her family relocated back to Las Vegas Nv, where she continued her faithful membership at Vegas view Church of God and Christ, serving under the leadership of Pastor Jerald J. Manson I and the late first lady Marguerite Jean Manson. During this membership Zena worked as a youth Sunday School teacher. In Zena's spare time, she loved caring and spending quality time with her family and friends. Zena rarely complained and whatever was required or asked of her . she did it with a smile. When it came to working or helping others, it was hard for her to say no. In 2008 , Thomas, Zena and Jasmine moved to Hazelehurst, Mississippi to look and care after her aunt (Thelma Strong). Zena often said '' She felt it was the lord led her to do so''.
