Sandra (Sandy) Ann Clasen, age 79, passed away peacefully at home in North Las Vegas, NV on May 15, 2024 surrounded by her loves ones after her tireless battle with cancer.

Sandy was born on March 23, 1945, to Arnold Jr. and Frances Zentgraf in London, England. Her and her mother traveled to America on the SS Paraguay in April 1946 and settled in Greenfield, Massachusetts where she grew up with her four brothers, Edward, John, Arnold III, and Francis, and sister Elizabeth.

After graduating from Greenfield High School in 1963, she joined the US Navy where she served her country honorably and was a very proud Navy Wave. While in the Navy, she married her then husband Ken Clasen and had three children Karen, Lynne, and David. She raised her family moving around the country due to Ken’s Navy career, and then settled her roots in Colorado for 28 years and finally moving to Las Vegas, NV in 2020.

Sandy was strong woman of faith and devoted member of Advent United Methodist Church where she created PowerPoint presentations for worship. She was also a member of the United Women on Faith and lifetime member of the American Legion. Some of her favorite hobbies were making centerpieces for the fellowship hall in her church and hand-crafted gifts for family and friends. She found joy in making others smile and bringing light and happiness into others’ lives.

Sandy leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her brothers John Zentgraf, Arnold Zentgraf III, and Francis Zentgraf (Tamara), and sister Elizabeth Zentgraf, her daughter Karen Hall (Thomas), her son David Clasen (Sheila), her son-in-law Lawrence Otis, eight grandchildren: Stephanie Lehman, Justin Clasen, Danielle Wilson (Christopher), Andrew Rodarte-Otis, Zachary Rodarte-Otis (Hailey), Jessica Lambert, Tracie Hall, and Tommy Hall. Along with ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Frances Zentgraf, brother Edward Zentgraf, and daughter Lynne Otis.

In Memoriam

For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
We’ll see your smile in every ray
Of sunshine after rain
And hear the echo of your laughter
Over all the pain
The world’s a little quieter now
The colours have lost their hue
The birds are singing softly
And our hearts are missing you
Each time we see a little cloud
Or a rainbow soaring high
We’ll think of you and gently
Wipe a tear from our eye.
