Samuel Lee Kline was born January 27, 1935 to Enoch Kline and Marie Richards Kline. He grew up in Thomastown, Mound Projects in the township of Tallulah, Louisiana.

Samuel met Evelyn James in Tallulah, Louisiana and on February 6, 1958 they were married. Together they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada on September 29, 1958. Samuel worked as a School Police Officer for the Clark County School District, and he also worked at the Dunes Hotel for many years.

Samuel and Evelyn had 10 children together, 6 boys, and 4 girls.
