Paepaetele Moimoi Semeatu Maiava
Sunrise - May 17th, 1929 - Sunset - July 7th, 2020
Paepaetele Moimoi Matagaono Semeatu Maiava was truly blessed. She was born May 17, 1929 in Fagamalo, Amerika Samoa to Matagaono Tauapa'i Moimoi Loa and Urima Akeripa Sepania Pula. She was married to Ma'afu Tuna Semeatu Maiava and raised 9 children in the village of Afonotele, Amerika Samoa.
Paepaetele attended Saleimoa elementary school and Papauta all-girls school in Upolu, Somoa. She also later attended the Poyer school "A'oga a Poia" pago, Amerika Samoa.
Paepaetele worked and retired from Starkist canneries in Amerika Samoa after 30 years of service. She dedicated her services and time to her family, church, and her village of Afonotele. She was a deacon for the church of Ekalesia Fa'apototpotoga Kerisiano I Amerika Samoa (EFKAS). She was an active member of the church choir and "Mafutaga a Tina". She was the leader of the "aualuma" (Talaleleomalie, Faletua, and Tausi) representing the Matagaono Family. She spent most of her time sitting on her father's grave, either singing, telling stories, napping, or making beautiful leis for the church.
Sometimes you would find her in the "umu" helping out, doing laundry, cleaning or planting flowers around her home. She always loved to stay busy. She was content and blessed with the love and life that she had.
Paepaetelepassed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday July 7, 2020 in our family home in Las Vegas, NV. She will always be remembered as a loving and selfless wife, mother and grandmother. She had a tender heart and loved to spoil her grandchildren. She had a quiet strength and always smiled even when times were tough. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
