Herbert Leon Nixon was born on June 1, 1964 in Los Angeles, California to August and Helen Nixon. As early as eleven he was placed in the spotlight by The Young Saints Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit youth organization in Los Angeles. Herbert debut solo vocal performance with The Young Saints was televised on a local network and there was not a dry eye backstage or in the audience. The skills and discipline he learned with The Young Saints, the woodcraft Rangers, piano and tennis lessons with his grandmother Dora Belle Ansley, and every other program she kept him involved in played a major role in his development as a young man.
He attended Dorsey High School, Los Angeles, California in the 10th grade and joined the ROTC, we were certain he was headed for the military after graduation, but he had other plans. He was accepted to Birmingham High School, Van Nuys, California and immediately joined the marching band playing the bass and snare drum. Marching band was his whole world in high school along with his two best friends Ernest and Joe they were unstoppable. Herbert graduated from Birmingham High in 1982.
He loved to play his drum in his room, build go-carts, and spend most of his time learning something new, or creating something new. Herbert had an "I can teach myself anything attitude".
In the 90's Herbert legally changed his name to Okino Kegali Nixon to his dad he will always be "Drop" but we all know he called himself "Uncle Elroy".
He obtained a California Real Estate License, a California Barber License, and Nevada HVAC Certification, he taught himself to speak spanish by listening to audio cassettes, and even took Helicopter flying lessons. He worked for Bank of America, Los Angeles, California and Los Angeles Unified School District prior to relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada.
