Lela Mae Wingate was born May 6h, 1930, in Wiergate, Texas to

the late Huey Wingate, Sr, and Ocie Mae Hill.

"Mae" or "Aunt Mae as all family and friends referred to her, was

raised in Beaumont, Texas

Lela Mae was united in marriage to Herbert Hoover Holmes from

1947-1996. Lela and Herbert relocated to Compton, California in

1950, shortly thereafter their family grew with one son, Earnest

Berlice Holmes and one daughter, Jammie Ester Holmes.

Lela Mae moved to Las Vegas in 2000 and continued her walk

with Christ at Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Lela Mae leaves a

legacy of love and inspiration. She was preceded in death her

lifelong love Herbert Hoover Holmes, parents Huey Wingate Sr.

and Ocie Mae Hill, three brothers Walter Wingate, Arlee Wingate.

and Huey Wingate Jr, one sister Earnestine Wingate-Skinner.

She completed her earthly journey on May 24th, 2023.

Lela Mae leaves to cherish her memory son, Earnest Holmes &

Genevieve(wife) and daughter lammie Ester Holmes, Grandchildren

Carlissa and Danielle Holmes, Emone and Romello James, Adonis

Lenicio, Aristille. and Tynesha. A host of great grandchildren

nieces, nephews, caregivers, friends, and former employees whom

all loved and admired her.
