Karen Stewart was called to rest on Tuesday October 4, 2022. She was born in Riverhead, NY on June 21, 1961, to the late Almeta Stewart and Thomas Stewart, Sr. Karen was the third of four siblings, Tia Rhodes, Thomas Stewart Jr. and Samuel Stewart all of Las Vegas, NV. A military dependent, Karen lived in Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Texas, and the Philippines before moving to Las Vegas. Karen attended business college after high school and held a position in human resources at Montgomery Wards. She eventually found a career and second family as a custodian at Harry Reid International airport where she worked for many years.
Joe shares: My mom was a beautiful soul who always kept a sense of humor.
Even in her final days, she never hesitated to let someone know how she felt about them, or how she felt about what was going on. She was very strong willed and didn't take mess from anyone. Karen loved strong, was forgiving, understanding, funny, beautiful and at times very stubborn. She loved to read, play bingo with her friends, travel, eat crab legs, the Grinch, and of course she loved Jason Momoa. One of Joe's favorite memories of Karen is their time together playing video games which she continued to do after Joe moved out. He would have to go over and help Karen knock out the difficult video parts. Karen loved her grandsons and would ask for pictures daily to post to her Facebook page. She frequently mentioned how much she missed her mother and moved near her resting place to be close to her. Everyone can agree how much we will miss Karen's sense of humor, her laugh, her outspokeness and most of all who she was which molded Joe into the person he is today.
Karen is survived by her sister Tia Rhodes, brother Samuel Stewart, son Joseph Green (Tina), grandsons Kairo Green, Kameron Green, nephew Jonathan Rhodes, and Sebastian Green all of Las Vegas, NV. Karen will be forever remembered by her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
