Hilary Cooper Jr.
June 5, 1960 - December 29, 2021
Hilary Reed Cooper, age 61, loving father to six, and beloved partner to wife Earlena Cooper, passed away late afternoon Wednesday on December 29th 2021 after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. Hilary was born on June 5. 1960 in Monrovia Liberia, to the late Hilary Reed Cooper Sr. and late Annie Klorteh Nagbeh, he was later adopted and raised by his fraternal grandmother and great grandmother Arda V. Colling and Gertrude Thompson, after the passing of his father.
As a young boy he attended primary school in France learning to adapt tp new environments and becoming fluent in French. Hilary was an avid Soccer fan and player, loved listening o music and was an avid collector; there was nothing he loved more than being around family and friends. After he received his formal education in both Monrovia and Paris, he moved to Long Island, New York where he met his soon to be wife Earlena Cooper in 1984. They married a year later in which they traveled the world together raising four beautiful daughters over the span of 35 years. Kind, soft spoken, and a man of few words but his love for his family ran deep. There was no greater love for him than that of his family.
As a young man, Hilary looked to better the life of his family and in 1988, he joined the United States Army and served with Honor and Distinction for 23 years to his adopted country of the United States of America. During his service as a United States Soldier he traveled extensively all over the world un support of military operations such as Operations Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Korean Defense, and the War on Terrorism. Hilary was a Purple Heart Recipient and a decorated soldier for his selflessness and contribution to his country, later on becoming a citizen of the United States. Although, he was proud of his Citizenship, he still had a longing and enduring love for his Country of Birth Liberia! Which he always spoke of returning to.
Hilary retired from the United States Army in August 2012 and later earning his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Hilary loved nothing more than his family and that goes especially for his grandchildren. He enjoyed the rest of his retirement in Hinesville, Georgia to be near his grandchildren and later on in Las Vegas, Nevada near two of his daughters who cherished the having him near. Hilary always put family first and more importantly he was a God Fearing man who believed in the power of prayer. He will be so very missed by those that loved and cared for him, but we are comforted in the fact that he suffers no more, and is at peace with God Almighty. Hilary was a loved by his family, and will be forever cherished for the man that he was, for his quiet strength, for being a beloved father, friend, and husband.
