Curtis Lee and Willie Denise MeFarland Rolfe and to this union ten children were born. Ed received
Christ at an early age
Ed received his formal education in the Arkansas School System, graduating from Mildred Jackson High
School with the class of 1972 and later relocated to Phoenix, AZ. Ed was a Veteran of the United States
Army having enlisted in 1976. He understood the risks and challenges of this venture yet proudly served
on various tours and duties. His military tenure led him to reenlist many times, and while in service Ed
took full advantage of the diverse military education offered to soldiers. He received various service
ribbons for going overseas; professional development ribbons for defense training; marksmanship
badges; and honors and awards for his overall good conduct. After leaving the Army in 1991 as Staff
Sergeant with an honorable discharge, Ed worked for the US Postal Service in Las Vegas, NV until
retirement in 2021
Ed was a role model of goodness, loyalty and leadership to his family and community. Although he
never played a musical instrument, his favorite past time was to sing, dance, listen to all genres of music
and dress to the MAX. He was happiest when hosting, entertaining and laughing with family and friends
As an excellent gourmet cook, he enjoyed eating sea food, steamed vegetables, barbeque AND fried fish.
Ed was a lover of life, people, and serving his country; that said, Ed could always be seen taking long
walks with his twin dogs CoCo and Chenille
Everett (Ed) Lee Rolfe, Sr., father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend passed away on May 22, 2023,
in Las Vegas, Nevada. His wife, Cecelia (fondly known as Sug) preceded him in death May of 2021.His
father Curtis Lee Rolfe, Sr., and mother Willie Denise McFarland Rolfe; paternal grandparents Fred
Rolfe, Sr and Ozella Jones Rolfe; maternal grandparents Lee McFarland and Almetta Byrd Howard; and
a sister Velma Lee Rolfe-Coleman, all preceded him in death
He leaves to cherish his precious memories Everett Jr. (Pearla) and two granddaughters of TX; stepson
Larry Buries of NV; five sisters: Mary Rolfe-Shaw (George), Margaret and Effie Rolfe of Illinois
Almetta Russell and Sandra Rolfe of TX; three brothers Curtis Rolfe, Sr. (Dorothy), Fred Rolfe (Anna)
of AR; Henry Rolfe (Phyllis) of TX, along with a loving host of relatives and friends
Ed was well loved and will be missed but never forgotten. We loved you dear brother, but our Abba Father loved you the best.
Not, what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of his birth.
Nor what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with words of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away?
I’m following the path God has chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I’ve found now peace at the end of the day.
