A Bright-eyed Brenda Joyce was born to Clifford and Geraldine Porter on friday April 22,1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brenda was reared in the heart of historic Westside's black community. Her villiage then was experiencing exponential growth as well as religious,social, cultural, business, and community development. She was among close family and friends who attended Westside Grammer School at Washington and D Streets Las Vegas. After grammar school she attended Madison Middle School (Currently known as Wendell P. Williams Elementary) and graduated from Western High School in 1965. Her education continued through Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital (Currently University Medical Center) where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Brenda worked for Sunrise Hospital for over 20 years and remained in the medical field. She obtained a Personal Care Profession Certification whereby she provided in home car for number of years before her retirement. Her continuous dedication to medical scholarship enabled her to naturally and unconditionally respected matriarch. Brenda was married to Earl Gene Banks in 1973, and she was devoted to this union more than two decades. She loved the lord with all her heart and soul.
Brenda was an independent thinker who expressed her opinion candidly, and those who knew her were fortunate to call her friend and family. She was notably a sticker for impeccable cleanliness and organization. she enjoyed the sport of tennis as well as gardening and cooking. she was also an avid reader of literature and history.
