Arnita Thomas

  Arnita Thomas was born January 7, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Martha and Francis Edward Thomas. The family lost their parents at a young age and were cared for and nurtured by their older brother, Nathaniel Scott. Reared in Historical West Las Vegas, Arnita successfully matriculated through the Clark County School District Educational System. In 1974, Arnita moved to California to live with her sister, Barbara Scott.

  After earning her High School diploma, Arnita entered West Los Angeles College to pursue an administration degree. Several years later she began working as a secretary at Luster Henry Tutorial Center.

  She later moved back to Las Vegas where she entered the hotel industry, working at Imperial Palace and Sahara Hotels. She enjoyed working in hotel hospitality. For many years leading up to her passing, she worked other various jobs, including Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church as a maintenance technician. She was very passionate about cleaning and maintaining the upkeep of the House of the Lord.

  As a child, Arnita was brought up in the church. She attended the Vegas view Church of God in Christ under Pastor Claude H. Pastor Jr. and Mother Stella Parson. She later accepted Christ at Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles, under the leadership of the late Rev. Rocellia Johnson. She served on various ministries, but her favorite was singing in the mass choir.

  Arnita enjoyed fashion, cooking, gospel music, and gardening. Being quite fashionable, she loved shopping for the latest trends. Arnita also watched food tutorials and cooking channels during her spare time. The center and heart of her life was her son. She was an exemplary mother who taught her son about Christ, helped with homework, and participated in activities.
